What are the main concerns within your practice?

My practice is primarily engaged with the processes of painting and abstraction through the ways in which pigment is applied to surface. It often references the history of painting, while at the same time questioning what it means to make paintings within contemporary art now.

What are your biggest influences?

It often changes, but it is usually the feeling that emerges when something interesting begins to happen within a painting. Also, the work of Cy Twombly.

What’s the first thing you do when you start/ what’s your process?

A body of work usually begins through experimentation with materials, processes or different types of paint and surface. Having said that, something as simple as a specific colour or texture can be the starting point for a series of paintings.

What do you like most about the studio?

Being able to be around like-minded individuals.

How has your work changed over the course of your degree?

My work has developed from being multi-disciplinary to being very much involved within the field of painting. For the last two years painting has been my main focus and I always find myself being brought back to it in one way or another.

What are your plans after graduation?

My plans after graduating are to study an MA in Fine Art and continue to explore painting through spending a large amount of time dedicated to studio practice.
